Portugal/Economy: JOSÉ CESÁRIO (SECP) RECEIVED A COMMITTEE FROM “THE PORTUGUESE OFFER” FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM IN LISBON.

José Cesário, the Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities, received the delegation from 'The Portuguese Offer' in Lisbon, which presented the reinvigorated project for the third Portuguese Products and Services Fair to be held in 2026.

The Portuguese ruler gave his approval to this project, born in Thetford, United Kingdom, which clearly demonstrates the dynamics of this small village with 30% of Portuguese-speaking residents. The event brings together several British and Portuguese chambers of commerce and industry and aims to develop, in the time between the event, several symposia and trade missions that will shorten and strengthen ties between Portugal and British companies, with the commitment and involvement of their chambers of commerce.

José Cesário welcomed the committee and was willing to help materialize the project, which he believes could increase commercial ties and the internationalization of Portuguese companies and vice versa.

The delegation of 'The Portuguese Offer' included Joe Barreto, businessman, Carla Barreto, current vice-president of Thetford Chamber, Carlos Ribeiro, businessman and João de Noronha, director of the newspaper As Notícias. As guests, the Chamber of Commerce of the Beiras Region was present, in the person of its president, João Morgado and Ana Correia, director.

In the end, we know that this contact will continue in several aspects and may involve a visit to the United Kingdom, where there will be several contacts with local companies and Chambers of Commerce.

SECP sees this type of initiative as an example of the necessary integration between Portuguese emigration and Portugal and, soon, there may be further developments in active participation between both parties. It should be noted that, in the direction of 'The Portuguese Offer', several Portuguese descendants also take part.
